Golfer’s Elbow
Repetitive and excessive use of the elbow can cause an injury to the tendons attached to the joint. Medial epicondylitis, or golfer’s elbow, is an injury to the tendons on the inside of the elbow. While common for golfers, other sports and activities can also cause this injury, resulting in elbow pain and limited arm mobility. If you have golfer’s elbow and want pain relief, our experienced medical team at Medici Spine & Pain can help you recover and get back to enjoying the activities you love.
Golfer’s elbow is caused by excessive or repetitive force on the tendons that control the bending of the wrist toward the palm of the hand. This motion is common when swinging a golf club, throwing a baseball or lifting heavy items with handles (suitcases). When too much stress is put on the tendons, it results in pain on the inside of the elbow. Golfer’s elbow results in stiffness in the elbow and weakness in the hand or wrist, making it difficult to grip.
