Find out if Hyperbaric Therapy is right for you!
100% Oxygen under Pressure Promotes Healing
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)
HBOT is a non-invasive treatment that delivers 100% oxygen in a pressurized chamber. Breathing 100% O2 (Oxygen) in this environment allows the body to absorb 10 times more oxygen than normal breathing and promotes deep tissue healing and regeneration.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy also reduces inflammation and aides in collagen production needed for wound healing.
In addition, HBOT can rebuild bone, promote angiogenesis (growth of small blood vessels), and fight infections. It enhances stem cell release along with activating the immune system to fight bacteria.
Why Medici Hyperbarics?
Our goal is to exceed the expectations of all that we serve by continuing to improve our standards beyond the boundaries of typical healthcare. We provide a wealth of knowledge in the field of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, along with a desire to educate and empower our patients to obtain optimum outcomes.
Superior Chambers Make The Difference!
Monoplace Hyperbaric Chamber
Medici Hyperbarics only uses large diameter Sechrist chambers. These chambers provide a spacious environment, that allows for patient comfort. Entertainment systems and two-way intercom ensure an enjoyable treatment with the ability to communicate with the technician. Hard acrylic chambers have been proven to deliver appropriate and accurate treatment depth with built in safety features to achieve the safest and most efficient hyperbaric treatment.
Beware of False Hyperbaric Treatment
Our chambers are capable of 3 ATA of pressure and typical treatment protocols are between 2.0ATA and 2.4ATA. In contrast, bag chambers can only go to 1.3 ATA.
The FDA does not recognize inflatable (zip-up style) bags as a medical device for hyperbaric oxygen treatment and you will not find them in any reputable hospital or medical office. Scientific literature shows that oxygen becomes bacteriostatic (biological or chemical agent that prevents bacteria from reproducing) at 1.5 ATA. Since inflatable bags can only produce 1.3ATA they not only can’t prevent bacteria from growing, they can actually enhance the growth of some molds, fungus, and aerobic bacteria.
Bag chambers are not regulated to the same safety standards as true Hyperbaric chambers and increase the risk of fire among other hazards.
Conditions Normally Covered by Insurance
Medicare and many insurance companies generally cover HBOT for these conditions, but may not do so in every circumstance. Check with your insurance plan before treatment.

HBOT can also help with the following off-label conditions:
- Chronic medical diseases like addiction are treatable and involve complicated interactions between brain circuits, genetics, the environment and an individual's life experiences. With an addiction, you drink, use drugs or engage in destructive behaviors that become compulsive. This often occurs despite harmful consequences. Drug addiction is a chronic disease that is similarly prevented and treated like other chronic diseases. Addiction to alcohol or another substance is caused by an uncontrollable craving for it and use of it. Due to the dependence problem in addiction, stopping can be very difficult, causing severe physical reactions and psychological impairments.
- An autism spectrum disorder, or ASD, is a spectrum of disorders that includes challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication. There is not one type of autism but many subtypes, most influenced by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Autistic spectrum disorders are multifaceted, influenced by several genetic and environmental factors. Learning, thinking, relationships and problem-solving for those with autism can range from highly proficient to severely challenged. Many persons suffering from autism are high-functioning in many areas but struggle with challenges in other areas.
- The brain can suffer from anoxic and hypoxic injury when the delivery of oxygen to the brain is compromised. Physiologically, oxygen delivery to the brain depends on both blood flow and blood oxygen content. In this way, anoxic brain injury can occur when blood flow to the brain is interrupted, such as when an individual is shocked or strangled, or when there is a change in the blood oxygen level. In the absence of treatment, severe anemia, systemic hypotension and severe hypoxia may lead to anoxic brain injury.
- Avascular necrosis, or AVN, is the death of bone tissue caused by blood supply loss. Other names for this condition include osteonecrosis, aseptic necrosis and ischemic bone necrosis. This eventually can lead to tiny breaks in the bone that can cause the bone's eventual collapse. A broken bone or dislocated joint can interrupt the blood flow to a section of bone. Avascular necrosis most often affects the shoulders, the knees and the ankles as common sites for injury that can cause an infection.
- Anoxic brain injury is a type of brain injury caused by oxygen deprivation. This can cause serious damage, as the brain depends on oxygen to function properly. In fact, brain cells without enough oxygen will begin to die after about six minutes. There are several ways someone could suffer anoxic brain damage. Nearly drowning, experiencing a decrease of oxygen flow to the brain due to a heart issue and overdosing on drugs are just a few examples. The effects of an anoxic brain injury can range from balance issues, memory loss, vision problems and/or loss of consciousness. The use of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy can promote healing by restoring oxygen levels, and thus, improving the flow of oxygen-rich blood to the brain. This can result in blood vessel growth and damaged tissue repair, among other benefits.
- Rheumatoid arthritis is considered an autoimmune disease that causes joint pain. Common symptoms include swelling, joint stiffness, fatigue, weight loss and redness. Rheumatoid arthritis, for which there’s no cure, can also lead to bone erosion. Osteoarthritis is the degeneration of joints over time from wear and tear. Inflammation is typically localized to the joint. Osteoarthritis is the most common reason total joint replacements occur. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy increases oxygen in the bloodstream up to 1,200% above normal levels and dramatically decreases inflammation.
- Cerebral Palsy is a condition caused by damage to the developing brain while in the womb or during childbirth. Common symptoms include lack of muscle tone, reflexes, motor control, and coordination. There is no known cure for cerebral palsy, but it is not progressive. Therapeutic interventions focus on preventing complications and helping patients live with daily challenges. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy raises oxygen levels in the brain higher than any other therapy available, stimulating a cascade of positive changes to brain physiology.
- Circulation conditions can cause a reduced blood flow to limbs or regions of the body which cause arterial issues. It is classified as a reduced blood and fluid return to the heart or venous and lymphatic issues. Arterial issues result from cholesterol buildup and inflammation of blood vessels. Insufficient blood flow to certain areas of the body, in particular the legs and feet, is called poor circulation. The condition is known as peripheral artery disease or peripheral vascular disease. By supplying your arms and legs with oxygen-rich blood, your heart provides oxygen to the rest of your body. Smooth and unobstructed arteries provide healthy blood flow to your legs and help deliver oxygen, glucose, and other essential nutrients.
- Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) is a debilitating disorder that weakens the body for prolonged periods. Bed rest does not improve fatigue of this kind, and the condition is actually made worse by physical or mental exertion. The symptoms include muscle exhaustion, inability to sleep, joint pain, headaches, and difficulty concentrating. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy seeks to relieve general fatigue and pain experienced by patients with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
- Reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome is a chronic condition that can cause serious pain. Symptoms include terrible swelling, burning, sensitivity to touch, and alterations in skin color, typically to purple or blue. The use of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy to treat reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome may decrease swelling, improve blood flow, and decrease pain.
- In Greek, Scleroderma means hardening of the skin. Scleroderma is a chronic connective tissue disease that is estimated to affect just over a quarter of a million Americans each year. One of the most obvious symptoms is hardening or tightening of the skin. Other symptoms of Scleroderma include joint pain, a heightened reaction to cold temperatures and acid reflux, in addition to potential problems to the heart, lungs or kidney. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy can accelerate the healing of ischemic wounds that can result from Scleroderma.
- Concussions are traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) that damage the brain. They are often caused by some type of external force, including wounds that penetrate the skull and closed-head injuries. Concussions can have varying degrees of severity, but all are considered serious injuries that should be evaluated by a medical professional. Professional and adolescent athletes, particularly those involved in contact sports, tend to be more at risk. TBIs are also the signature wound of veterans returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan. However, anyone could suffer a concussion. Sports injures, car and motorcycle accidents, falls—all could result in brain trauma.
- Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory disease of the gastrointestinal tract, especially the colon and ileum, associated with ulcers and fistulae. Symptoms range from mild to severe and may include frequent diarrhea, abdominal pain or cramping, reduced appetite, unexplained weight loss and rectal bleeding. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy has been used to treat Crohn’s disease and inflammatory bowel disease because it reduces inflammation, fights infection and decreases pain.
- Fibromyalgia or fibromyalgia syndrome is a chronic pain disorder. Symptoms include widespread or localized muscle and joint pain, stiffness, swelling, and tenderness. Most people with fibromyalgia experience fatigue, sleep disturbances, headache, anxiety, and memory problems. Some also report high sensitivity to noises, lights, smells, and temperature changes. The use of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy to treat fibromyalgia patients aims to relieve symptoms.
- Inflammatory bowel disease is a chronic inflammatory disease of the gastrointestinal tract characterized by reoccurring ulcerations, and includes Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Symptoms include bleeding, weight loss, diarrhea, anemia and abdominal pain. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy benefits patients suffering inflammatory bowel disease by increasing saturation levels within blood plasma and tissues, helping the body’s natural healing process, reducing swelling and inflammation, and eliminating harmful bacteria.
- Interstitial Cystitis is also known as painful bladder syndrome (PBS), bladder pain syndrome (BPS), and chronic pelvic pain. Symptoms include recurring pelvic pain, pressure, or discomfort in the bladder and/or pelvic region, and urinary frequency (needing to go often) and urgency (needing to go right away). The cause is not known but the symptoms can be debilitating. The use if Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy to treat interstitial cystitis may significantly improve symptoms.
- Lyme disease is a tick-borne illness caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi. Symptoms of an acute infection can include fever, headache, fatigue, and skin rash but the infection can also be completely asymptomatic. It is most common in the northeast and upper Midwest but is found throughout the rest of the United States and most of the world. About 30,000 Lyme disease cases are reported annually although the vast majority go unreported. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy seeks to attack the disease with enriched oxygen, which increases blood flow. Lyme disease is a microaerophile, meaning that it thrives in low oxygen environments. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy can directly kill the organism by flooding it with oxygen.
- A migraine is a common reoccurring neurological syndrome characterized by severe headache, nausea, vomiting, disturbed vision, and hypersensitivity to lights and sounds. Other common symptoms associated with migraine’s include chills, sweating, fatigue, weakness, loss of appetite, numbness or tingling, and difficulty speaking or concentrating. Cluster headaches are severe headaches, typically around the eye and only affecting one side of the head. They are often associated with watery eyes, nasal congestion, and swelling around the eye. The use of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy to treat migraine and cluster headaches in patients aims to relieve symptoms and help mitigate the severity and frequency of attacks.
- In Multiple Sclerosis, an abnormal response of the body’s immune system is directed against myelin—the fatty substance that surrounds and insulates the nerve fibers—as well as the nerve fibers themselves located in the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves. Multiple Sclerosis symptoms are variable and unpredictable but can include fatigue, vision problems, spasticity, walking difficulties, numbness or tingling, weakness, pain, bladder problems, and cognitive changes. The use of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy to treat Multiple Sclerosis patients aims to relieve symptoms and to help prevent attacks and disabilities.
- The term near-drowning refers to a person surviving suffocation after being submerged in water or other liquid. True drowning cases are included in the classification as temporary survival that eventually ends in death within a period of 24 hours. The drowning scenario inhibits the lungs to absorb oxygen since the airway or larynx can spasm and close. This also includes water being breathed into the lungs by a person who is submerged, thus damaging the lungs and preventing them from taking in oxygen.
- Pancreatitis is a condition in which the pancreas becomes inflamed. There are two forms of pancreatitis: acute and chronic. Acute pancreatitis is a sudden inflammation that typically lasts for a short period of time and goes away with treatment. Chronic pancreatitis, which generally occurs after acute pancreatitis, is a long-lasting inflammation of the pancreas. Symptoms include: nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain, fever, swollen and tender abdomen. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy can decrease pancreatic inflammation, swelling, and the debilitating pain associated.
- The mental effects of stressful events, such as an accident, assault, military conflict or natural disaster can endure for years. Despite many people's short-term reactions to life-threatening events, some will develop symptoms over the long run, which can lead to a diagnosis of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD. It is not uncommon for PTSD symptoms to occur in conjunction with other psychiatric disorders, such as depression and anxiety. An experience of trauma by either experiencing it or witnessing it is the trigger for post-traumatic stress disorder. Aside from flashbacks, nightmares, and anxiety, the thoughts about the incident cannot be controlled. Symptoms may worsen, last for months, or even for years, and interfere with day-to-day activities.
- Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy can speed up healing and reduce the recovery time for cosmetic procedures such as:
- Liposuction
- Face lifts
- Fat transfers
- Rhinoplasty Brazilian butt lift
- Tummy tuck/ mommy makeovers
- Hair transplants
- And many more.
- Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) is an inherited disease characterized by retinal degeneration. In this condition, photoreceptor cells in the retina, known as rods and cones, die. Since these cells are responsible for capturing images, their destruction results in symptoms that include night blindness, central vision loss, and the inability to distinguish colors. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy can help patients experiencing retinitis pigmentosa by increasing dissolved oxygen levels in blood plasma and tissue, which may slow the degenerative process, aid healing, and stabilize their visual functionality.
- A spinal cord injury is damage to any part of the spinal cord or nerves at the end of the spinal canal. A spinal cord injury usually begins with a sudden, traumatic blow to the spine that fractures or dislocates vertebrae. The damage begins at the moment of injury when displaced bone fragments, disc material, or ligaments bruise or tear into spinal cord tissue. This often causes permanent changes in strength, sensation and other body functions below the site of the injury. The use of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy to treat spinal cord injury patients aims to help improve function.
- Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy plays an important role in optimizing athletic performance and recovery of athletic activities. But perhaps, more significantly, it also accelerates recovery from sports-related injuries and surgery, enabling athletes to get back on the field faster. The use of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy to treat sports injuries aims to relieve symptoms, accelerate recovery, and optimize performance.
- A stroke is also known as a “brain attack” and occurs when the blood flow to an area of the brain is cut off. Brain cells and tissue deprived of oxygen and nutrients will begin to die within minutes. Depending on the location and size of oxygen deprivation in the brain, a stroke can lead to small or very large motor, cognitive, and/or sensory deficits. The use of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy can reverse tissue oxygen deprivation in the acute setting and after the damage has occurred, HBOT can help re-grow blood vessels and regenerative nerve cells.
- All surgeries, even those performed to cure or improve medical conditions, result in wounds that the body will need to heal. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy optimizes the oxygenation (and thus the healing potential) of tissue prior to surgery and accelerates wound healing post operatively. Although there are many additional examples, pre and post surgical Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy can improve recovery from orthopedic procedures or injuries such as an ACL tear, decrease bruising and swelling post plastic surgery, and improve tissue healing after cancer surgeries. HBOT is especially effective in complex surgical cases where where there is a high risk of wound healing complications.
- Ulcerative Colitis is a chronic disease of the large intestine, characterized by inflammation of its lining and the development of sores and ulcerations. An abnormal immune system response in which white blood cells misinterpret food and bacteria as invading substances, this condition is discomforting and can become painful. Symptoms include bloody stools, frequent bowel movements and debilitating abdominal pain. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy benefits patients suffering from Ulcerative Colitis by increasing the oxygen levels in plasma and tissues which reduces inflammation and swelling, allowing the tissue to heal.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) Questions
- During hyperbaric oxygen therapy, ambient pressure inside the computerized, state-of-the-art, hyperbaric oxygen chamber is gradually increased with the addition of 100% oxygen. The patient lies comfortably and breathes normally during treatment while enjoying a DVD or television program on a mounted flat screen TV. Many people choose to use their treatment time to simply relax or to take a nap. Atmospheric pressure within the hyperbaric chamber is adjusted to accommodate each patient’s treatment protocol. Treatments are computer controlled and monitored by trained hyperbaric technicians.
- During the compression and decompression phases of the treatment or “dive,” pressure in the ears is equalized by swallowing or yawning to clear the ears, similar to being in an airplane during takeoff or landing. Sensations are no different than being in normal room air during the main part of the treatment.
- The basic principle behind hyperbaric oxygen therapy is easy to understand. In normal conditions, only red blood cells have the ability to carry oxygen. During hyperbaric oxygen therapy, inhaled oxygen dissolves into all body fluids – such as plasma, lymph, interstitial, synovial and cerebrospinal fluid – thereby providing the body with new vehicles of O2 transport. The resultant increased oxygen levels improve the body’s ability to create new blood vessels (angiogenesis), build new connective tissue and and foster the growth of new cells (fibroblast formation) and aid in the ability of white blood cells to destroy bacteria and remove toxins (an increased immunologic response). Areas of the body that may have had restricted blood flow because of injury or disease are able to receive oxygen during HBOT.
- Persons who have a history of pneumothorax, commonly called a “collapsed lung”, are not candidates for receiving HBOT. Patients currently taking certain cancer medications, suffering from severe emphysema and those in end stage heart failure (with ejection fractions below 35%) are also not eligible for treatment. Those with high fever, active respiratory tract infection, sinus or Eustacian tube problems, seizure disorder and pregnant individuals also require special screening and individualized consideration. A detailed health history will be taken from all individuals who seek treatment.
- Utmost care is taken to educate patients about the techniques and importance of clearing their ears during the compression and recompression stages of hyperbaric oxygen treatment because of the potential for barotrauma or middle ear “squeeze”. Simply swallowing or yawning in order to equalize ear pressure (similar to being on an airplane during takeoff and landing) is an effective way to avoid this situation and protect the ears during these changes in pressure. Appropriate patient screening by our physicians and patient monitoring during treatment also helps to circumvent this condition.
- Patient safety is the foremost priority during the administration of HBOT. Medici Hyperbarics strictly adheres to international safety guidelines. Manufactured in the United States, chambers are state-of-the-art, FDA approved and provide the most advanced technology and safety available in the hyperbaric industry today. We ask that patients come into treatment as if they just got out of the shower. We do not mean you must shower and come straight over, but due to safety reasons we cannot allow you to enter the hyperbaric chamber with anything on your body. Please remove all lotions, hair products, perfumes, cosmetics, deodorant, etc. We provide 100% cotton scrubs that must be worn during hyperbaric oxygen treatment. Water bottles are also provided for patient comfort. Any other objects must be cleared by our personnel in compliance and adherence to strict safety guidelines. Patients will receive appropriate chamber safety education before the first treatment as well as ongoing monitoring by trained staff. Lockers are provided for clothing and valuable items.
- The number of treatments will differ according to condition being treated, whether chronic versus acute and upon individual patient need as determined by the physician. A personalized HBOT treatment plan will be discussed during your initial, complimentary consultation.

Your Trust Is A Privilege That Fuels Our Passion For Healing
Kate S.
My doctor recommended hyperbaric oxygen therapy for quicker recovery and better results from cosmetic procedures.
I had fully ablative laser skin resurfacing and fat transfer to my under-eye area and cheekbones. When I first arrived at the clinic, I looked like a burn victim from the deep laser.
The first treatment jump-started my healing quickly, and I looked noticeably better by my 2nd visit. Although I only took two dives in the chamber, my doctor remarked that my skin recovered a number of days earlier than typically seen. I’ve also retained nearly all of the transferred fat (typically there is up to 50% loss), and I believe that the therapy helped nurture the fat cells at a critical time.
I was happy with the high quality of the hard chamber, which is said to deliver up to 10 times more oxygen than soft-chamber hyperbaric, giving me real results at only two sessions.
Miriam J.
My experience at Medici Medical Hyperbarics was A+++! I had 40 + HBOT “dives” or sessions, the summer of 2019 for my condition of CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome).
I was power wheelchair bound for 20+ years. The sessions lasted 2 hours each. The technician, Wes, that handles and operates the machines is extremely knowledgeable and I had full confidence that all sessions were performed at their peak.
The chambers are clear so you don’t feel any claustrophobia, and they they offer a TV on the outside of chamber that you can watch, which helps pass the time.
The results of my HBOT was going from horrific intractable pain and spasms for years, even with opioid medication, to being mostly pain free and able to walk and not use a wheelchair after the sessions (and then physical therapy to rebuild my leg)!
Dr. Sonny Dosanjh was top notch in his diagnosis, treatment and handling of my condition. The office staff were all positive, quality personnel too!
I give glory to God for this life-changing therapy!”
