Radiofrequency Ablation
Chronic neck, back or joint pain can be debilitating and affect your quality of life. There are many different treatments that may offer relief, including radiofrequency ablation, or RFA injections. This treatment uses radiofrequency to reduce pain signals sent to the brain by nerves in the affected area, offering relief. RFA injections can be a non-surgical solution for chronic pain management and are available at Medici Spine & Pain.
Radiofrequency ablation, or RFA, is used to deliver heat to targeted areas to reduce pain. The procedure is most commonly used for back, neck or joint pain caused by a degeneration of tissue from arthritis. During the procedure, local anesthesia numbs the targeted area. A needle is then used to access the area of the spine or joint, guided by x-ray imaging. A probe is inserted through the needle to deliver an electrical current to the nerves in the area. The heat from the current can help block nerve signals and reduce chronic pain.
Rhizotomy for Arthritis Pai
Rhizotomy is a procedure that is used to impact nerves in a targeted area to stop pain signals. While some rhizotomies can be performed surgically, using RFA is a less invasive and non-surgical option. For those with chronic pain related to arthritis in the spine or joints, RFA can offer a safe and effective way to manage pain without surgery. The procedure is well-tolerated and provides chronic pain relief for several months or even years, in some cases.
